Toy Toppers

Finding great cupcake toppers can be as easy as visiting a toy store. Here, a collection of tiny dinosaurs tromping through fields of green buttercream will entertain birthday boys and girls, but you can replicate this idea with other mall decorative objects. Plus, the toppers can serve as take-home favors (make sure to remove and rinse off toys before serving the cupcakes). To decorate, tint Swiss meringue buttercream (page 304) green with gel-paste food color. Using an offset spatula, spread buttercream generously over cupcakes; insert toy toppers.
